Next A deep cleat block being glued on to carry the mid thwart's forward cross beam. | Cleats on daggerboard case for the same cross beam. |
Cross beams installed on cleats. | Triangular packing pieces glued to forward, cantilevered part of daggerboard case. |
Template for half of thwart, separate ply mid section fitted already, but not glued. | All three plywood parts that make up the mid thwart have been made up in this dry-fit. |
The previously glued on triangular packing pieces on the cantilevered section of daggerboard case have been shaped to final dimensions. Using a flush-trim bit in the router, its outline will be used to shape the center ply section after gluing. | The cleats for the fore-thwart are glued on as well as the stiffener on the fore-bulkhead that will have the mast gate bolted on. |
The thwart's ply pieces have been sealed with epoxy on their underside. Ditto for all framework which will later be difficult to get at. After the sealing coats have cured the plywood tops are glued on. | Mid-thwart plywood tops trimmed, rounded off and sealed with epoxy. |
