Sail plan
Due to the novel assembly method this single chine boat is very easy to build.
To see how it is done have a look at the Pinta assembly animation . The "Piper" dinghy is the Pinta's larger sister ("Pinta" is 3.2m (10' 6") compared to the Piper's 3.68m (12' 1").

This project uses the same basic building techniques, however as "Piper" is a larger boat, she can accommodate a pivoted centerboard. This and the kick up rudder make it easier to explore shallow inlets or launching at lake-shores.

Full building instructions come with the plans, illustrating the various tasks in easy to follow steps. A simple assembly cradle ensures accurate shape. Interior fit-out takes place while in the cradle.
Piper 03 At this stage only rendered images are available. This boat is looking for a builder! Any project pictures taken will - with the builder's permission - be published on this site .

The sail plan at left shows the boat rigged using a Gunter gaff main and a non-overlapping working jib.
The rig is just like the one I used on the "Swift", which is in many respect the larger sister at 4.62m (15' 2").

Having a jib in addition to the main sail means that two people can be actively involved in sailing her.

This type of rig will perform much like a Bermudan, but with the benefit that the spars are short enough for easy transport.
It is also cheaper to make these spars as they are just plain aluminum tubes!
Piper 1 Alternatively, this boat can of course be rigged Bermudan using the same proportions.

Hull design is based on the "Pinta", a boat with proven speed potential and handling characteristics, but being bigger can handle more crew.
